{"id":797,"date":"2021-04-13T18:58:08","date_gmt":"2021-04-13T18:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/papelsa.com\/en\/?post_type=papelsa_noticias&#038;p=797"},"modified":"2021-04-13T19:36:32","modified_gmt":"2021-04-13T19:36:32","slug":"papelsa-reaffirms-its-environmental-commitment-with-the-latest-technology-wastewater-treatment-plant","status":"publish","type":"papelsa_noticias","link":"https:\/\/papelsa.com\/en\/papelsa_noticias\/papelsa-reaffirms-its-environmental-commitment-with-the-latest-technology-wastewater-treatment-plant\/","title":{"rendered":"PAPELSA REAFFIRMS ITS ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT WITH THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since 2012, PAPELSA had been exploring new technologies that would allow the treatment of its wastewater and the optimization of the water resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plant will have an anaerobic system, which\npositions PAPELSA as a pioneer company in developing a project with this\ntechnology<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Papeles y Cartones SA, invested about eight\nmillion dollars in its new Non-Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant (PTARnD),\nthrough which it expects to have higher chemical oxygen demand (COD) and\nbiological oxygen demand (BOD5) with removals greater than 80% and generate\nbiogas that can be used in the future as a source of energy generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This treatment plant has the capacity to treat\n100 m\u00b3 \/ hour, which is approximately equivalent to the wastewater of a\npopulation of 16,000 inhabitants and will have a technology recognized\nworldwide as the most efficient for the treatment of industrial water and\nbiogas production, a characteristic that constitutes its greatest differential.\nIn addition, it complements the current treatment system with which Papelsa\nalready recirculates approximately 40% of the treated water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"526\" height=\"351\" src=\"https:\/\/papelsa.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/PTAR-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-798\" srcset=\"https:\/\/papelsa.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/PTAR-2.png 526w, https:\/\/papelsa.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/PTAR-2-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 526px) 100vw, 526px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cSince the beginning of our operation, we have optimized the consumption of water resources, reusing the largest possible volume, reducing the polluting loads to bodies of water, and improving the treatment we give to the discharge. We had been looking for the right technology to advance in our environmental commitment for a long time, and we believe that with this project we have taken a decisive step towards being an increasingly sustainable company\u201d, assured our General Manager, Carolina <\/strong> <strong>Atehort\u00faa.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this new Treatment Plant, PAPELSA also\nresponds to the regulatory requirements of Colombia, Resolution 0631 of 2015 of\nthe Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, which establishes a\ncertain amount of concentrations in discharges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to mention that this investment\njoins many others that the company has led in terms of sustainability. For\nexample, in terms of water resources, the water footprint was measured, through\na joint project with the National Center for Cleaner Production and ANDI&#8217;s Pulp\nand Paper Chamber.
