Yesterday, March 21, we celebrated the International Day of Forests and today, March 22, we celebrate World Water Day. Water and forests are closely related and their conservation is essential to ensure the survival of human life on earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forests are one of the main providers of fresh water and act as carbon sinks, helping to mitigate climate change and environmental degradation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Healthy forests, healthy people”, this is the motto that accompanied the celebration of the International Day of Forests and expresses enormously well the high correlation that the preservation of the human race has with the preservation of forest life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water is one of the most valuable natural resources, being essential for the life of all species, including humans. Water is a renewable resource, but its availability is limited. The scarcity of fresh water is one of the biggest challenges facing the world, and its depletion can have serious social, economic and environmental consequences. Climate change, deforestation and soil degradation are some of the main causes of freshwater scarcity in many parts of the world. Therefore, the conservation and protection of forests and other natural ecosystems is vital to guarantee the availability of fresh water for human consumption and the life of flora and fauna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today is World Water Day, a date to focus our attention on the conservation, protection and care of this invaluable natural resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
