EARTH DAY, A CALL FOR ALL
Floods, thawing of the poles, natural disasters, extreme temperatures, fires, health pandemics … our planet is sick and is suffering a series of attacks that affect millions of people and living beings, with increasing frequency. For this reason, the commemoration of Earth Day today acquires greater relevance and becomes a call to all people to really take actions that have a favorable impact.
This day has been celebrated for 50 years, it is a call to promote actions that benefit the health of our planet, an invitation to “do” and materialize in real actions that help eliminate or reduce the damage caused to the environment and seek preservation of the ecosystem.
According to the United Nations Environment Program, every four months a new infectious disease emerges in humans and of these, 75% comes from animals. “This demonstrates the close relationships between human, animal and environmental health.
The environment directly depends on the health of the planet and that of the more than 7,700 million people who live on it. “Restoring our damaged ecosystems will help end poverty, combat climate change and prevent mass extinction,” says the United Nations (UN).
From PAPELSA today we want to extend this call and this invitation to “DO SOMETHING”, the small actions of all together are what give rise to great changes, simple things like
- Separate your garbage from the source correctly. Recycle and encourage your family and friends to do so. Did you know that at PAPELSA we work our process with 100% recycled materials and that in Colombia we only recycle 17% of all waste.
- Eliminate or reduce the use of single-use plates, for example, avoid the use of plastic bags and if you have to use them, it is best to recycle them. Preferably use paper bags.
- Properly dispose of the hazardous waste generated in your home, such as: lamps, medicines, batteries and batteries.
- Implement alternatives in your home to save water: for example: reuse the water in the washing machine, close the tap while we brush, collect the cold water in the shower while heating and then use it for cleaning or flushing the toilet.
- Change incandescent lamps to energy-saving lamps.
REMEMBER … THAT IT IS FOR YOU, FOR OUR PLANET AND FOR OUR FUTURE.
