On July 27, the first tree planting was carried out in the ecological and archaeological jewel “SERRANIA DE MAJUY”, located in the municipality of Cota Cundinamarca. In this activity, 15 plant and administrative workers from Papelsa participated, accompanied by their children. It was carried out as a collaborative action to promote the protection of resources, improve the landscape and benefit the ecosystem. Planting was carried out with the accompaniment of the tree network foundation, responsible for reforesting and caring for trees. This area seeks to be reforested since it currently presents environmental problems due to the sowing of pine and eucalyptus trees, which produce dryness in the soil and groundwater layers, for this reason the sown trees correspond to native species such as: Elder, Seven Leathers, Willow, Encenillo, Guayacán, among other species.
The area where the planting was carried out has the presence of Muisca indigenous people who seek to reforest and protect the territory, in addition to teaching visitors about the importance of caring for nature, they accompanied the walk of approximately 40 minutes and during the tour, they were teaching the meaning of words in the Muisca language, such as: Guache (It comes from ‘güecha’ which means warrior, brave and proud types), guaricha (Very beautiful woman), Cucha (Woman more beautiful than the rainbow), Moza and Mona (they were references of time; the first to say the day after tomorrow and the second is before yesterday). This activity was carried out with the objective of celebrating the international day of the environment, becoming an experience of environmental awareness, collective work and cultural enrichment.
Through this activity, Papesa demonstrates its commitment and coherence to work on environmental actions that contribute to our planet.
FOR YOU, FOR THE PLANET AND FOR OUR FUTURE.
